The Annual Clark J. Haines Concerto Competition

John Seaton
John Seaton was named the winner of the Clark J. Haines Memorial Concerto Competition held on Saturday, May 8, 2010. He has been awarded a $300 cash prize and the opportunity to perform his award winning selection, "Scaramouche" by Darius Milhaud, with the Miami Valley Symphony Orchestra at its winter concerts in February 2011.

Originally from Washington Court House, Ohio, saxophonist John Seaton is an honors student at Wright State University, majoring in music education. He currently studies saxophone with Dr. Shelley M. Jagow and has studied with Ron Aldridge, Joshua Baker and Adam Green.  He has also had the honor of attending lectures and performing in master classes with Jean-Marie Londeix, French saxophone virtuoso and professor emeritus of saxophone at Bordeaux Conservatory in France.  John performs with the internationally acclaimed Wright State University Saxophone Quartet and the Wind Symphony, and was winner of the 2010 Concerto Competition with the Wright State University Chamber Orchestra.

Darius Milhaud's (1892-1974) ìScaramouche" is an exciting multi-movement work with infectious melodies and engaging rhythms that the Miami Valley Orchestra will be proud to present as part of its 21st season.
